~Cat Shows~

Why would you want to get a kitten from a breeder who shows in CFA or TICA?
If a Scottish Fold, British Shorthair or British Longhair does well in the shows, it's because it's tail is flexible, eyes are big, bright and round, body large and healthy, it's free from parasites and it's overall health is robust! It's because that cat conforms to his or her breed standard and is beautiful, friendly and healthy. Many problems can arise from poor breeding practices! Be careful from whom you choose your new kitten. Someone who succeeds in the shows does that with healthy and sound cats! A Champion means very little in the cat world. Look for Grand Champions, Regional or National Winners and Distingished Merit lines.

Knowledge: A CFA or TICA "Champion" (CH before the name) means very little (unlike in the dog show world). Look for breeders with many Grand Champions (GC), Supreme Grand Champions (SGC--seen in TICA only) or Regional Winners (RW)!!

Guide to Cat Titles:

CFA:
Champion (CH): Be the best open in 6 rings and doesn't get disqualified
Grand Champion (GC): Beat 200 other champions
Regional Winner (RW): Be in the top 25 cats in your region for the year
National Winner (NW): Be in the top 25 cats in the Nation for the year
Breed Winner (BW): Be the best of your breed in the Nation for the year

TICA:
Champion (CH):
300 points from 4 different judges plus one final
Grand Champion (GC): 1000 points with 6 finals from 4 different judges
Double Grand Champion (DGC): 2000 points plus one final in the top 5
Triple Grand Champion (TGC): 3000 points plus one final in the top 5
Quadruple Grand Champion (QGC): 4000 points plus one final in the top 5
Supreme Grand Champion (SGC): 6000 points and a BEST CAT IN SHOW
